Lacquered wood sake cup set. The bowls have a
gold gilt horse and brown horseshoe. The
inscription reads, '1st Prize, 6th Division,
Horseshoeing Skill Competition'. I have the remains
of the box lid, too, (It's in 3 pieces.) and the
inscription reads: 'Taisho 2 [1913] June 17th,
Cavalry 6th Regiment, 6th Division Horseshoeing
Competition Technical Skills Association, 1st Prize.
Gift from all the Regiment Commanders as well as
the Veterinary Division. Recorded June 19th in
Niigata.'

The inscription reads: 'Discharge Commemorative,
Veterinary Division, Sato.'
The inscription (juuisei) here is translated by
Creswell as 'a one-year volunteer in the
veterinary branch'.
