Train Engines
Here are some rare train engine cups. These seem to be limited to the rail defense units in Manchuria, where guarding and maintaining the South Manchuria Rail was of great importance. Note that these cups often had the Rail Defense insignia and that the engine designs were most often stamped. I have an example of what happens when the engine is hand-painted. See it below. Disastrous result.
Rail Defense 1st Regiment
Kanto-Gun (Kwantung Army) Rail Defense 3rd Regiment
Rail Defense 1st Regiment. Both faded, hard to see
Rail Defense 3rd Regiment. Hand-painted engine. Rushed? Or just a poor artist?
Very rare sake bottle with a train engine in front of a regimental headquarters. The engine scene is stamped, but the cherry tree to the left (and blossoms above) are hand-painted. Stamped in gold paint on the side is the Railroad Defense insignia with cherry blossom branches, used by Imperial Guard troops in Manchuria. The characters read, 'Railroad, 1st Regiment Commemorative.'

Rail Defense 1st Regiment

Scarce Rail Defense sake cup tray with the Imperial Guard Railroad Engineer insignia in the upper left
Inscribed 'Railroad 2nd [Regiment] Commemorative'.
