Taisho Emperor Enthronement, pg. 2
Excellently made Emperor Coronation cup. Although it doesn't say whether this was for
the Taisho or Showa Emperor, I suspect it was for the former, dating it to 1915. The bowl
is cream-colored and has an engraved Imperial Ho-o bird.
Inscribed 'In Celebration of the Emperor's Enthronement.'
The reverse has engraved and painted paulonia leaves, one of the Imperial symbols.
Near the bottom you can see the artist's personal seal, which may say 'Ishiyama.'
Blue fukizumi (blown ink) blossom.
Inscribed 'Imperial Enthronement Celebration Commemorative'.
On the reverse 'Taisho 4 [1915] November.'
Lacquered wood cup. Gold gilt Imperial paulonia and mum branches.
Inscribed 'Enthronement Commemorative, Taisho 4 [1915] Kyoto City.'
