Set of five Military Academy saucers. The central pattern is stamped in gold, and around the saucers are three parts:
a battle flag, a bird carrying a banner, and an old Japanese village, perhaps symbolic of a hometown. The inscription
reads, 'Dispatch Commemorative, Army Infantry Academy'.
Old sake bottle with military motif label.
This cup was made in 1940, a date set aside by the Japanese
government as the Foundation of the Empire day, dating back 2600 years
to the mythical Emperor Jimmu.

Anyway, in 1940, a nationwide attempt at encouraging the war effort saw
celebrations all over the place, and Emperor Hirohito himself attended
one of the celebrations at Kashihara Jingu. This cup was made to
commemorate that event.

Inscribed 'Kashihara Shrine' and also marked 'Founding of the Empire
Pottery.'
Probably for sale at the shrine during the celebrations.

No chips or cracks.
Size: 5.5 cm across.

A 3-part porcelain container with printed military scenes. I think this is from the First
Sino-Japan War (1894-5). There are various Chinese soldiers having a hard time, some
of them falling from the clouds...

I'm not exactly sure what these containers were used for. In addition, there may be a
third dish missing. I have seen other non-military ones similar to this with three
compartments. However, the bottom two match in design (see the sun), so this may be
a complete set.

Fairly rare item.

No chips or cracks on the bottom two, but there is a chip on the inside of the lid. The lid
also has an indentation on the top, but it is a manufacturing error.
Size: 11 cm tall and 9 cm across.
