Wonderfully scarce commemorative item, something I can only describe as a mini-tokkuri. The size prohibits it from being an actual sake bottle, so this was probably used as a decorative item. It is worthy of that: Entirely hand-painted with crossed flags, Imperial paulonia leaves, a beautiful, detailed bird, and a gold and red Rising Sun badge around the neck. The maker's mark (Kutani) is in the base.

Some sort of dish, perhaps a candy dish, though it is quite deep. Inscribed 'Discharge Commemorative, 79th Infantry, Yokomizo'.

Air Corps tea cup and saucer. The design has a fighter plane and some sort of pilot's insignia in gold. Inscribed 'Air Corps 1st Regiment, Discharge Commemorative'.

Here is a superb incense holder (I think) in the shape of a combat helmet. The dealer here claimed it was Oribe-yaki, and it looks to be that style. Very beautiful, well-made. You can see the military star in the front. This could be a one-of-a-kind item. The maker's mark is in the base, but I am not familiar with it. Click here for the Wikipedia entry on Oribe-yaki. It is not really detailed, but you can find some other info on the web.
