Showa 3 [1928] Official gift from the Imperial Household to Army Second-
    Lieutenant Iwasaki Akisaburo.

The invitation shows that this was a military lunch party at which either the
Emperor himself or a member of the Imperial Household attended, as does the
inscription on the inside lid of the box.

It is a stunning set. A large Noritake bowl with beautiful Imperial symbols around
the rim, apparently hand-painted. In the center is a stamped, yellow military star.

On the reverse of the plate is this inscription: 'Imperial Celebration Party
Commemorative, Showa 3 [1928] November, Army Hall.' The sake cup box has
almost the same inscription. 2nd-Lieutenant Iwasaki was an instructor at the
    famous Toyohashi Military Academy.
Imperial Paulonia Leaves, 3 sets around the rim.
Imperial Ho-o bird.
Inscription on reverse of plate.
