Here is a lacquered wood cup from the IJN. Very rare for 3 reasons: 1) It has planes
on it. 2) It is inscribed 'KAIGUN SHOU [The Department of the Navy]' so it's an
officially-made item. 3) It is dated 1942, which is a rare, late date for any cup.

The pattern has two planes and the IJN anchor and blossom in silver gilt. In the bowl:
KAIGUN SHOU.
The characters on the reverse are in a classical style. They read in part, 'Meisen
Tobacco Company, Christening Ceremony Commemorative, Showa 17 [1942] March
15th.'

Note that companies and groups donated money during the war and often had
planes or ships named after the companies. This particular tobacco company
donated money to the Army as well and had a plane named after it in Showa 15
[1940]. It was a group from Nagoya, Japan. I couldn't find anything about what
exactly was being named here, but probably a naval plane. So this cup was
presented to company officials during the naming ceremony of the plane.

Here is an extremely rare naval cup with a
torpedo and artillery in the pattern. This is
the only cup I have come across with a
torpedo.
Sorry to say, it has faded a lot. This cup is
from the Russo-Japan War (1904-5).
Two nice lacquered wood naval cups. Early manufacture, probably Russo-Japan War (1904-5).
Battleship cup with three ships. The spots you see are flecks of
gold paint. No inscriptions, but probably an early cup, around the
Russo-Japan War (1904-5).
A very rare Navy cup from the first Sino-Japan War of
1894-5. The kanji used here for China (Shin) wasn't used
after 1900, so it is easy to date. The characters read '[?]
Departure to China Troop, Commemorative.' In red is the
sailor's name: Hayashijima.
Naval anchor & flags pattern, stamped. Inscribed 'Meiji 37-8 [1904-5]
Years War Commemorative'.
Rare sake cup with soldier and IJN flag.  Inscribed
'Celebration'.  The style suggests that this was made
around 1904-5 or earlier.
Rare sake cup with hawk and IJN flag.
Inscribed in the banner 'Banzai!'
