Named Ship Cups Page 6
Warship Shikishima. This one also has the IJN flag.

GUN-KAN IZU-MO Warship Izumo At the top, a banner--often seen on naval cups.
|
Modern tea cup from a named warship. Inscribed in the base 'Warship Ashigara, 30th Annual Prayer for the Dead, Participation Commemorative.'
Since the Ashigara was sunk in 1945, this cup dates to 1975 or later, depending on when this event was first held.
|
Inscribed 'Gift to Tokunaga Eisaku, Warship Kirishima, From All the Electrical Engineers'.
A rare set from one of the major battleships. This ship was launched in 1913, reconstructed in 1934 as a fast battleship, and met her end in 1942 at the Battle of Guadalcanal.
|
Warship Iwate The Iwate was built in 1900 and scrapped in 1947. Quite a long service. Look closely and you can see two small birds above the waves.

This is a named warship cup from the armored corvette Hiei (not to be
confused with the WW2 battleship of the same name: WIKIPEDIA ENTRY).
Inscribed 'Long Voyage Commemorative, Warship Hiei, Meiji 35 [1902],
Nakayama'.
The two polished kanji in the center read 'Noble Warrior'.
Inscribed on the reverse 'Warship Tenryu, Showa 7 [1932] Shanghai Incident
Commemorative.'
See the Wikipedia article on this ship HERE.
Lacquered wood named ship cup set. This also includes the matching two-piece
stand, which is fairly rare.
The cups and stand have the owner's family crest in gold gilt. I'm not sure, but it
appears to be a variant of the zingiber (myoga in Japanese).
The cups are inscribed 'In Celebration of Aizawa's Discharge, from all of the
Electrical Unit of the Warship Kurama'.
The bottom of the stand has the same inscription and also has a date:
'Taisho 2 [1913] May.'
Here is the Wikipedia article on the Kurama: KURAMA.
Named warship cup with IJN and battle flag.
Inscribed 'Warship Fuji, Discharge Commemorative'.
You can read a brief history of this battleship here: FUJI.
Here is a named warship cup with an uncommon shape.
Very rare to find a cup like this named to a ship.
Inscribed 'Commemorative, Showa 6 [1931] Warship Furutaka'.
See the Wikipedia entry on this ship here: FURUTAKA.
I am not sure what kind of metal this is, but it isn't pure silver.
Size: 9 cm tall
Inscribed 'Conquer Russia, Victorious Return Commemorative,
Warship Nipponmaru'.
I couldn't find much info on this ship, except that it was
British-made (1898) and it was a cruiser.
