Very nice tea or coffee pot from the battleship Kashima.

Made of pewter, very minty. Embossed all around with a large pine tree, cranes, and a Rising Sun.
Also various abstract patterns and a cherry blossom on the bottom of the spout.  Inscribed
'Battleship Kashima, Crown Prince Visit to Europe Commemorative'. The Crown Prince Hirohito
made a tour of Europe in 1921.

Named 'Yamamoto' and also the maker is named: Made by  Satsuma Yamasaki.

The original paulonia wood presentation box is included. The label on the box is somewhat worn,
but it shows that this is from a shop in Kagoshima (southern Japan). Yamamoto's personal stamp
is on the box, too.
Inscribed: 'Battleship Yamashiro, Taisho 4 [1915] Enthronement
Inspection Ceremony  Commemorative.' This ship may have been present
at some enthronement ceremony of the Taisho Emperor, which
traditionally took place a couple of years after ascending to the throne.

The Yamashiro had a long career, ending in 1944 when it was sunk by US
forces.
From the Battleship Fuso. A crane, battle flag, anchor, and turtle are in the bowl.
Inscribed 'In Celebration of Takahashi's Discharge, From All of His Peers on the Fuso'.
Inscribed 'In Celebration of Discharge' and on the reverse 'Gift to [?], Warship
Akashi, from the 2nd Squad, Left Deck.'

This ship had a nice history, participating in such famous battles as the Battle
of Tsushima and the Battle of Tsingtao.

CRUISER SUZUYA.
A rare named warship cup. Made of pewter. The design has a warship in the center, and on either side are
branches. The left has paulonia branches and the right mums (both Imperial symbols). Below is an anchor.
Inscribed on the reverse 'Showa 9 [1934] Warship Yubari, Crewmember Commemorative.'
I found two pieces of paper in the box. One is from the shop where the cup was bought. The name
matches that on the box. It was a store in Kagoshima (southern Japan).
The other paper is far more interesting and quite rare. Here is a partial translation:
'Showa 8 [1933] December 18, 1st Squad, Navy 3rd Class Seaman Nakao Kazue [followed by Nakao's
personal red seal), Yubari Captain Kiyomiya Ko. Furlough Petition, Winter Furlough, 2nd Term, Address:
Fukuoka Prefecture, Yame District, Mizuta Village, Tsunemochi 1319-1. Furlough term: Showa 8 December
31 to Showa 9 January 10.'

The next two addresses are his local post office and police department, respectively. The pink stamp is an
approval stamp; below is an orange stamp that says 'Yubari Captain Official Seal.' The remaining text
describes what is proper behavior during a furlough.

The cruiser Yubari served in the Pacific War and was sunk in 1944 near Palau.

It is very difficult to find such documents along with wartime items. The provenance here is really
amazing--having not only the sailor's name but also his address. The cup, too, has a striking and rare
design.

Inscribed 'Warship Matsushima, Long Sea Voyage Commemorative,
Maruyama.'
Inscribed 'Warship Nisshin, Southern Dispatch Commemorative, Abe.'
I'm not sure what dispatch this is referring to. However, this ship is very
famous since Yamamoto Isoroku lost two fingers while serving on her.
