Inscribed in the bowl 'The Thoughts of the Emperor
are Eternal' in gold kanji.

On the reverse 'Tokyo 3rd Army Hospital, Release
from the Hospital Commemorative.' This hospital
was established in April 1938. In December 1945 it
was re-named Sagamihara National Hospital.

painted pattern has cherry blossoms and a medic's flag.

Inscribed 'Gifu Army Hospital, Discharge Commemorative'. I cannot
read the poem in the center.

This hospital was founded in 1910 under the Army Ministry's control. It
was called Gifu Medical Hospital. In 1936 the name was changed to
Gifu Army Hospital and after the war it was changed again, this time to
its present name, Gifu Prefectural General Medical Center.

mean that the recipient worked for the hospital or
was attached to it in some official way. The
Japanese is
sain. If one is a patient in a hospital, the
phrase is
nyuuin.
Note that the above two cups are almost the same, yet there are slight differences in the kanji.

On the reverse: 'Hakata, Made at Arita Shop.' Hakata is the oldest part of Fukuoka city.
Rare named Manchukuo Army hospital cup.
Inscribed 'Victorious Return Commemorative, Mukden Army Hospital, Harada.'
Mukden was a city in Manchukuo. It is currently called
Shenyang.
Rare named Taiwan hospital cup.
Inscribed '
Taichung Medical Hospital [????] Commemorative.'
Inscribed: 'Hiroshima Army Hospital,
Discharge Commemorative.'
Inscribed: 'Gift' and on the reverse 'Tokorozawa Army Hospital, Showa 13 [1938] May 14th.'
This hospital changed its name to Tokorozawa National Hospital in 1941 and exists today as a health center.
I think this is pure silver, but there is no mark indicating that.
