[Hospital]'. This was one of the national hospitals, and the
names of these were changed from
eisei to rikugun in 1936, so
this cup pre-dates 1936.

This was one of the national hospitals, and the names of
these were changed from
eisei to rikugun in 1936, but
since this cup also has 'army' inscribed, I'm not sure how
to date it.
Lacquered wood. Inscribed in the bowl 'Good Fortune
Commemorative' in raised gilt kanji.

On the reverse 'Tokyo 3rd Army Hospital, Showa 14
[1939] March 14th.' This hospital was established in April
1938. In December 1945 it was re-named Sagamihara
National Hospital.
