Rare cup for a couple of reasons: First, it is a lacquered wood cup with a
beautiful gilt Golden Kite. Second, the inscription suggests that this cup refers
to the
Nomonhan Incident.
Inscribed 'Khalkhin River Border, War Victory Commemorative, Fukano Unit'.
Although this was a decisive battle, the Japanese--by all accounts--lost this
battle. So I am not sure why this is labeled 'War Victory.'
Metal cup with a striking Golden Kite design. Not only is it nicely detailed, but
the kite is much larger than is common.

Inscribed 'Victorious Return Commemorative.'
Beautiful metal cup with a gold wash. The embossed design is a
detailed Golden kite badge. To the left are Imperial paulonia branches
and to the right Imperial mum branches.

Inscribed 'Victorious Return Commemorative' and on the reverse 'War
Victory Commemorative Sake Cup.'
Lacquered wood cup with a Golden Kite medal in the design. The inscription
shows that this was given to a soldier who had been awarded the 7th Class
Golden Kite, so this cup was either given on that occasion or just documented
his award upon his return from the battlefield.
Inscribed 'Conquer Russia, Victorious Return Commemorative, Sakui
Shinosuke, 7th Class Order of the Golden Kite.'
