The Boxer Rebellion, page 2
Rare Boxer Rebellion small plate.

Inscribed 'Alliance Army, Attack at Tianjin'.

The yellow standard held by the Chinese says 'Boxers'.
Boxer Rebellion cup?
Inscribed 'Stationed in China, Peking Infantry, Commemorative, Dozono'.
The word for China here (
shinkoku) dates in to the 19th century, so this is
probably from a unit that helped suppress the Boxers.

Inscribed 'Victorious Return Commemorative, North China Incident
Dispatch Army, Infantry 21st Regiment.' This regiment was from
Hiroshima.
Inscribed '[Meiji] 33 [1900] North China, Victorious Return
Commemorative, Infantry 42nd Regiment.' And a poem
Lacquered wood cup with a map of China and Manchuria, beautifully drawn.
Near the top edge you can see the Great Wall of China. Peking is marked with
a double square within which is a dot; Tianjin is marked by a single square
and dot. Other cities are marked with a square.
Since Tianjin and Peking were so closely involved in the Boxer Rebellion, this
looks to be a cup from that incident.  In addition, the port city of Taku is shown,
and the rail from this city was used to get to Tianjin.
Inscribed in the base: 'Tianjin Infantry Battalion, 3rd Company.' Around the
reverse rim it says 'North China Garrison Commemorative.'
