ARMY   (INFANTRY)
The Japanese Imperial Army had many different branches and specialties. From this page you can access
the various units and find the kanji for them along with the insignia and common symbols used.

To the left you can see the links to the pages, so click on one of them that interests you. I'll be making lots
of changes and additions in the following weeks, so some pages are incomplete at the moment.

Below are the most common infantry cups, most of which have the military star. Certainly the most
common designs on Japanese military cups are flags (usually crossed) and a star.

However, infantry cups were hardly limited to these two designs.
Designs with the military star featured prominently. Actually, this star is just about everywhere on
cups and bottles, sometimes very small and tucked away in a corner, other times huge and
imposing. This military star was used on everything military, but most often on Army items. Once in a
while the star will appear on Navy items, but this is uncommon.
Below the Army star here is a Rank Insignia
(probably Superior Private). Rare to see
these on cups. Dated Taisho 1 [1912].

kind of party that was.

Hatsubashi Honten.'
