COMMON REGIMENT KANJI
Three examples of REN-TAI
(regiment), all read right to left.
Usually there is a number (in kanji)
just before this compound, which
is of course the regiment number.
CHU-TAI (translations above). Note
that the last kanji (TAI) is the same
as the last in REN-TAI.

CHU means middle or center
(medium).
DAI-TAI: Battalion

DAI means large.
HO-HEI (Infantry soldier) read right
to left.
SHI-DAN, read right to left.
Pronounced DAI. It means 'number'
and always precedes a number.
Here is DAI to the right, followed by the kanji
for 10, and then REN-TAI, which means
'regiment. Therefore, 10th Regiment.
From the right: SHI-DAN: Division.
